Devolution: it has to be democratic and real
Understanding that decisions should be made by the people affected by them, with power resting at the local level and only being referred upwards when it is necessary is fundamental to Green Party political philosophy.
How that works, where and how decisions are made, is something that needs to be decided democratically - and is essential for people in Britain today to feel that they can take back control of their own lives.
That's not what the Conservative Party has offered with its piecemeal, backroom deal-based offerings.
Natalie spoke about this to the Centre for Research into Economic and Sociocultural Change in Manchester:
One thing that the very existence of the talk of devolution can do is start the process of asking questions, of seeking new models, of developing new processes in politics. That’s exciting, and important.
