More genuinely affordable homes

Relying on mass builders to supply homes is a failed policy.

What we need are genuinely affordable homes, in parts of cities with good transport links and other facilities.

In Sheffield there are many brownfield sites that would be ideal for new homes, where the residents could become part of existing communities.

Natalie has lived on three different council estates in London, and she loved the community, the decent size and standards of the homes, and the diverse communities who occupied them.

Council homes shouldn't only be available to those in desperate need. And they must be stable homes for as long as people choose to remain.
