Ratification referendum

If we truly trust the British people – and want to give them a real say over the future direction of this country – then they need a democratic vote on whether they accept the circumstances on which we are leaving the Union, or whether they would rather remain in the EU.

"Take back control" was the hashtag that persuaded many to vote "leave" in the referendum. The Brexit process has now been seized by a Tory-Ukip extreme agenda of "Hard Brexit". Voters must have the option to reject that.

And if we are facing the prospect of a "Crash-Out Brexit", the option of preventing that by choosing to remain must also be on offer.

The people of the UK must be given an opportunity to accept or reject the future that is on offer at the end of the two-year Article 50 process through a ratification referendum.
